A rouleau vase in iron-red, made for the Qing imperial court during the Kangxi reign.

Porcelain of this kind belongs to the long imperial tradition of Jingdezhen, where the workshop under the supervisor Tang Ying raised technical refinement to a high art.

Made under the Kangxi emperor, who opened the dynasty’s great age of enamel and colour at the imperial kilns. It is held in The Palace Museum, Beijing, and the image is reproduced here with the museum’s credit.
